Embodiment of Motion: Loïe Fuller & Aesthetics of Performance in Emerging Tech

Rochele Gloor is a research artist, designer, and emerging technologist based in New York. With a background in medical imaging and knitwear design, she became an award-winning social entrepreneur in sustainability and zero-waste fashion in Brazil. In 2020, her practice transitioned to 3D and digital arts. She earned a Master's degree in Creative Technologies and published research on leveraging aesthetics in VR experiences for wellness. Whether through technology or nature, she places the human at the center and seeks balance between these three pillars as the foundation of her explorations.

Rochele serves as an institutional advisory member on generative AI at both the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the School of Visual Arts in New York, where she is also Assistant Director for Innovation Technologies in the MFA Computer Arts program. Her recent research introduces a novel method of virtual multi-person co-embodiment using motion capture systems. Her artistic approach is grounded in phenomenological frameworks, with interests in aesthetics, contemplation, and how human perception is shaped by societal dynamics and real-time technologies.
