
Javier Romero
Animation VFX Supervisor
Javier Romero is an experienced Animation VFX Supervisor whose credits include Ray Gunn, Luck (Skydance Animation) and WONDER PARK (Paramount Animation), amongst others.
He started his career in 1999 in "The Living Forest", the first animated feature in Europe in the rendering department. In 2005 he achieved with Distinction an MSc in Computer Graphics at Bournemouth University, with his thesis being published as a paper in IEEE Computer Society 2006, joining MPC London as FX Artist for the Academy Award Nominee for best VFX "Poseidon" (Warner Bros)
Coming back to Spain in 2006 as FX head at Ilion Animation Studios for "Planet 51", he became the studio VFX Supervisor in 2010 for the movie "Mortadelo and Filemón". In 2014 he led the show "Wonder Park" for Paramount Animation, helping grow the studio and the culture until its purchase by Skydance Animation in 2020, where he acted as VFX Supervisor on "Luck", "Blush" (Apple TV+), "Pookoo" and "Ray Gunn" (NETFLIX).
Member of The Visual Effects Society, Javier plays a key role on the spanish Animation industry, including 6 years of directing a Masters in VFX at UTad University in Madrid, proving strong mentoring capabilities with pupils working on Film / TV worldwide Blockbusters and holding responsibility roles in some of the biggest spanish production houses.
