Co-Founder, Alps Studios
Filippo Robino is the founder and CEO of Alps Studios, a boutique VFX studio located in Turin, in the north of Italy. Since opening its doors in 2019, Alps has worked on over 40 feature films and episodic TV shows, as well as several high quality commercials, game cinematics, documentaries and music videos for international clients. Filippo has been nominated for a David di Donatello Award for Best Visual Effects in 2023 for his work on Dampyr.
Filippo got his start in VFX by studying Graphic & Virtual Design at the Polytechnic University of Turin. He then pursued a private master program at the Virtual Reality & Multimedia Park in Turin. To improve his technical skills and solidify his specialisation in FX, he attended a master in FX at London’s Escape Studios. He started his freelance career as an FX Artist in Europe, working in several cities.
He then joined Trixter, Munich as a permanent employee and was a key member of the FX team for three years. He then decided to take a step forward in his career and joined Scanline VFX.
In 2017, Filippo decided to make a move to the other side of the world and joined Iloura in Melbourne, Australia. After being promoted to lead and successfully leading a team of five FX Artists for the production of Aquaman, he received an offer from Weta Digital in Wellington, New Zealand. He was hired as FX Trainer with the main responsibilities of building an FX Academy for other FX artists working for the company, being an ambassador between all ongoing productions and ultimately to help them improve their general pipeline and workflow to increase quality and efficiency.
Through his experiences in different studios across the globe, Filippo has gained a deep understanding of business dynamics, from production problems to employee and department management.
